Description
The Hungarian subsidiary of the German industrial equipment manufacturer Harro Höfliger is building a new plant in Debrecen, the centre of the Northern Great Plain region. The investment will create 100 jobs. The CEO of the subsidiary expressed hope that the expansion would encourage a number of former Debrecen residents to return from the capital or Western Hungary to live in work in the town.
The new plant will assemble machines for the pharmaceutical and medical technology industries. The investment cost is €14 million, with the Hungarian government contributing a grant of €3.5 million. Production at the new site is expected to begin by the end of autumn 2025.
The firm primarily produces for export in Hungary. According to the plans, the hiring of 100 new employees may be followed by further personnel increases. If the plant manages to expand its operations from machinery assembly to machinery design, PLC programming installation, and commissioning, the total workforce – which is currently slightly above 200 – could reach 400-450 in the future, according to the management.
