Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

MMT-B, a gearbox manufacturer, owned by the German investment fund Mutares, is cutting 230 jobs from its 430 total workforce in Blanquefort (Gironde) by mid-March.
The restructuring is driven by a significant decline in projected demand for manual gearboxes for thermal vehicles in 2026, largely due to reduced orders from its main client, Ford. Additionally, one of its key suppliers was recently placed under legal redress.
Initially, management will propose a voluntary departure plan, which is set to be presented on March 13. The internal restructuring is expected to continue until the end of the year.
