Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
JLC 45 Confort de la Maison, a French home improvement company operating in the housing renovation sector, announced the closure of its activities following a judicial liquidation, resulting in 130 job cuts in France. The liquidation is due to take effect on 26 February 2025.
The closure follows severe financial and legal difficulties. The company was placed into judicial liquidation by the Commercial Court of Orléans amid numerous accusations of deceptive commercial practices, abuse of trust and abuse of weakness, particularly targeting elderly customers.
The 130 job cuts are spread across three locations: the headquarters in Saint-Cyr-en-Val, which employs around 100 people, and the two remaining agencies located in Dijon and Saint-Germain-des-Fossés. Management has indicated that redeployment solutions will be proposed to the affected employees.
JLC 45 Confort de la Maison was founded in the early 2010s and has established itself as a significant player in energy renovation in the Loiret department, offering services such as insulation, window installation, roofing renovation, and heating systems.
