Description
The bus operator Nobina has notified 750 employees in the Stockholm region that they will be dismissed due to financial reasons. The background is an agreement with the city of Stockholm to purchase 140 electrified buses to add to the Stockholm bus fleet, which according to Nobina the local authority has delayed so much that they will not be able to order the new bus fleet by the deadline in mid-June. The bus operator states that the 140 new buses will take approximately 15 months to order, and the city and bus operator are working on an agreement to safeguard bus operators in the municipalities south of Stockholm that may be affected.
Updated, 05/08/25
At the end of April, a settlement was reached between Nobina and the Stockholm region, which led Nobina to withdraw the notice. As a result, none of the earlier reported 750 employees will be dismissed. Neither the bus operator nor the local authority has revealed the contents of the settlement.
