Cellnex, an Spanish wireless telecommunications infrastructure and services company, has announced plans for an employment redundancy file process (ERE) affecting up to 250 employees in its Spanish subsidiaries, Tradia and Retevisión. These redundancies, represent 9% of the group's total workforce, and primarily impact employees responsible for third-party network maintenance—a sector that is not strategically prioritised by the company.
The decision, according to Cellnex, is driven by organisational, productive, and technological factors, including a stronger focus on core business operations, the discontinuation of lower-value contracts, and increased automation in network operations. Negotiations with employee representatives are set to begin shortly, with an emphasis on voluntary departures. Following a period of significant inorganic growth, Cellnex is now prioritising organic expansion and operational efficiency. as well as enhancing profitability by reviewing lower-value contracts, automating processes, and adapting its organisational structure accordingly.
A previous internal restructuring process within Cellnex was reported in 2021, with 252 workers being affected Cellnex 2021-ES
