Description
DFDS-FRS, a company responsible until now for operating the Tarifa-Tangier City maritime route, has announced a Collective Redundancy File (ERE) affecting 126 employees, following the loss of its concession on this route.
Trade unions have expressed concerns regarding the negotiation process for the ERE, aiming to minimise the number of affected workers and ensure adequate compensation for those who will lose their jobs. In this regard, and following an initial meeting with the company, the number of affected employees has been reduced by three from the originally announced figure of 129.
Additionally, the company has proposed compensation of 20 days' salary per year of service for employees who are re-employed by the new concession holder, while those not rehired would receive 22 days' salary per year of service. However, the trade unions are pushing for higher compensation of 45 days per year of service.
