European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Weylchem Lamotte, part of the global chemical manufacturer Weylchem, is cutting 129 jobs at its site in Trosly-Breuil (Oise). The restructuring was announced by management on October 14, following the loss of a major client in June, who chose not to renew their contract. Syngenta, a manufacturer of plant protection products, has shifted its sourcing to cheaper Chinese suppliers. Weylchem is a subsidiary of International Chemical Investors.
The works council requested information on the impact of losing Syngenta as a client, with responses expected in mid-October. Moving forward, the site will refocus on three specific products. It had previously received €5 million in public aid from the State and Regional authorities. The 12th of December, a number of workers joined others in a protest in Oise. The job saving plan negotiations should end in mid-January.
Weylchem Lamotte's site currently employs 400 workers.
