European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
At the beginning of December 2024, the German agriculture wholesaler, retailer and service provider BayWa announced it latest restructuring plans leading to the closure of around 400 BayWa locations. The company stated that around 1,300 jobs will be lost due to its restructuring plans. Though it is not yet clear if only Bavarian locations are affected by this management decision, the company has already stated that 40% of administrative positions will be shed. Negotiations with the works' council have started and are expected to be completed by the end of March 2024.
The global company is headquartered in Munich. Apart from job cuts, other measures were also announced, such as selling parts of its business. At the end of December 2024, the company stated in another press release to have started implementing its restructuring programme.
