Description
The food manufacturer of baked goods, Bake my day, has given notice to 121 employees, corresponding to more than 50% of its workforce.
The company is facing plummeting sales following employee reports on unhygienic conditions and pest problems at the Huddinge factory as well as problems with working conditions such as unpaid overtime. Many of Bake my day’s clients, including large food retailers, school kitchen catering services, and municipalities, have seized orders to conduct their own investigations, or withdrawn their orders all together.
The CEO states that the hope is that cooperation negotiations will result in fewer dismissals, but that depends on whether clients will proceed with their orders as the food manufacturing business has low profit margins. In December, 2024, the company moved production from Huddinge to Arlandastad, Sigtuna.
Bake My Day is a Swedish company based in the capital region and has 194 employees.
