Description
FrieslandCampina, a Dutch dairy cooperative employing approximately 21,000 people globally and 7,000 in the Netherlands, announced plans to cut 186 jobs at its production facility in Leeuwarden, Friesland and Born, Limburg. The production of sweetened condensed milk will be closed, with 99 job cuts. The production will move to Workum (Netherlands). Additionally, the production of sweetened condensed milk is being outsourced to Hochwald, a dairy cooperative based in German, in Bolsward (Netherlands).
The job losses, which primarily affect production employees, are part of an internal restructuring effort aimed at improving operational efficiency and cost savings. The phased layoffs will commence in January 2025 and are expected to conclude by the end of that year. Trade unions have been informed, and negotiations have begun to establish a social plan to support the affected employees. This restructuring is a response to shifting market conditions and the need to optimize operations.
