Description
Adient, an American leader in the automotive seating industry, has announced the closure of two Czech plants and massive layoffs of 1,100 workers over the next two years.
In connection with the end of production, 410 workers in eská Lípa and another 690 people in the nearby city of Stráž pod Ralskem will lose their jobs.
The final closure of the plant in eská Lípa is planned for the second half of 2025, the plant in Stráž pod Ralskem should end production at the beginning of 2026.
The manufacturer responds to changes in the automotive industry: the shift to e-mobility, supply chain disruptions, economic instability and reduced consumer demand.
Globally, the American Irish-domiciled company employs roughly 70,000 people across 200 manufacturing plants in 30 countries worldwide.
