Description
French energy company Engie is shutting down the operations of EVBox, a Dutch charging points station manufacture. Between 400 and 500 jobs are expected to be cut.
There are multiple reasons why the jobs are being cut. Firstly, EVBox used to be a big player in the market for charging points, but in past years, the quality of the service and charging points have declined. This caused the main clients, such as Schiphol and the municipality of Amsterdam, to go to the competitors of EVBox. Moreover, the sales of electric cars in Europe declined in past years. It is unknown what type of jobs are being lost and which unit is most affected. However, EVBox has stated that it will keep 100 jobs on a short-term basis to keep the charging points running.
Though its mother company is located in France, EVBox has its headquarters in the Netherlands.
