Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Samodzielny Publiczny Zakład Opieki Zdrowotnej w Lubartowie (SPZOZ Lubartów), a healthcare facility, has announced a reduction in its hospital staff by approximately 120 people.
The planned changes in the workforce are expected to bring savings to allow the facility to continue operating. The process is to last from 5 November to the end of December 2024. Mainly nurses are to be made redundant, but also midwives, paramedics, physiotherapists, doctors, room attendants, maintenance and administration staff; an additional 80 people are to be offered a change to their existing contract.
The trade unions are currently consulting on the redundancy process.
An Independent Public Health Care Institution (SPZOZ) is a legal person constituting a medical entity which is not an entrepreneur. The SPZOZ in Lubartów was established in 2002 and 596 people are currently employed at the hospital alone.
