European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
As announced on 7 October 2024, the Japanese construction machinery manufacturer Komatsu is cutting 235 of the 1,000 jobs at its plant in Hannover.
Employees are expected to leave the company by the end of 2025. Starting in April 2024, Komatsu has been letting 78 temporary contracts expire. 50 employees are leaving as part of a voluntary program, while the remaining 107 employees will receive layoffs due to operational reasons. The reason cited is weak demand for construction machinery. A future agreement is in place for the remaining 765 employees, which excludes layoffs for operational reasons until early 2030.
