Description
Swedish boat manufacturer Nimbus has declared its intention to shut down its Finnish factories in Kuopio and Larsmo, affecting a total of 140 employees. Of the 140 employees impacted, the majority are already on temporary lay-off.
The company states that the demand for leisure boats has been low ever since the Covid-19 pandemic. Union representatives at the Kuopio factory states that closure of the factories has been expected, although the decision was made earlier than anticipated. In Kuopio, the re-employment situation for laid-off employees is dire. In the Larsmo region, other jobs in boat manufacturing are more available.
In 2023, Nimbus Group employed 526 people in total.
