European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Pekárna Lapek Jihlava, the biggest bakery company in the region of Vysočina, is being closed due to economic problems. The collective redundancies concern a total of 215 employees of the bakery, especially from production. The production part of the bakery will close at the end of 2024.
The main reasons stated by the company are the high energy prices and the overall difficult situation on the market. Dismissed workers are afraid of existential problems.
Part of the staff might get a job with the company that will take over the current bakery shops or with other companies in the food industry in the region of Vysočina.
