Description
Medical device company BD (Becton Dickinson) has announced that it is to close its plant in Drogheda, Co. Louth, with the loss of 200 jobs. The plant will be wound down over the next two and a half years.
The decision to close the site was taken after a review of the company’s global manufacturing and supply chain network.
The first round of redundancies will commence in March 2025 and will involve approximately 110 job losses, with the remaining redundancies taking place between March 2025 and September 2026 when the plant will close.
BD currently employs 1,000 people in four sites across Ireland – Drogheda, Dublin, Wexford and Limerick. No other site is impacted by the job losses.
