Description

Kaunas Aircraft Maintenance Services (KAMS), a subsidiary of the Irish airline company Ryanair, officially opened a new aircraft maintenance building with 2 hangars in Kaunas on 14 May, 2024. The company has invested around € 20 million in the construction of the hangars and promises to create an additional 200 new, well-paid workplaces, including a significant number of positions for highly skilled engineers and aircraft mechanics. According to the State Social Insurance Fund Board (Sodra), the company now employs approx. 330 people with an average salary of € 3,300 gross. With this expansion, the company plans to double its capacity in Kaunas and also to continue investing and expanding in Lithuania over the next 10 years. Elijus Čivilis, General Manager of Invest Lithuania, notes that Kaunas has already become the largest aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) cluster in the Baltics, and should continue to grow in the future. KAMS, established in 2013, is responsible for winter and summer inspections of Ryanair's fleet. With the second investment project and the opening of two new hangars, KAMS will be able to double its aircraft inspection capacity with up to 4 aircraft to be serviced simultaneously.
