Description

The Danish pump manufacturer Grundfos has announced that it will close its site in Wahlstedt, Schleswig-Holstein, resulting in the loss of more than 500 jobs.

The background to the job cuts is the closure of the site and the relocation of production to locations in Denmark, Hungary and Serbia. The closure of the site in Schleswig-Holstein will result in the loss of around 530 jobs. It is not yet clear when the job cuts will be completed. The company wants to remain competitive in the long term. Together with the works council, socially acceptable solutions are to be found for the employees, Grundfos said.

The IG Metall trade union has no understanding for the decision to close the Grundfos site in Wahlstedt.

The company employs 1,200 people at various locations throughout Germany. The company, headquartered in Bjerringbro, Denmark, claims to be a global leader in pump and water technology.
