Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
GE Power, the energy technology company, will lay off around 170 people from its plant in Elbląg, Poland.
The steel foundry will be closed, with declining production cited as the reason. The redundancies will start at the beginning of July and will last until the end of March 2025, employees of the foundry will be made redundant. The intention to make group redundancies has been notified to the Labour Office, there are no agreements with the trade unions yet.
GE Power is part of US giant General Electric. Its steel foundry had been operating in Elbląg since 1948.
