Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
TE Connectivity Industrial, an American concern that manufactures, among other things, electrical connectors and connection systems, has laid off 140 employees from its headquarters in Nowa Wieś Lęborska.
The redundancies are related to the relocation of production to Morocco; the plant was closed at the beginning of April. All employees at the plant were made redundant; the terms and conditions of the redundancies were in accordance with the Labour Code, with the employees also receiving higher severance payments, psychological support and support in finding a new job; the employees had been informed of the planned closure a year earlier.
TE Connectivity Industrial is a US company with plants worldwide, producing electrical connectors, electronic connectors and connection systems. The plant in Nowa Wieś Lęborska originally operated as 'ABB Entrelec' and since 2002 as TE Connectivity Industrial Poland.
