Description
Accell Group, a Dutch bicycle manufacturer, is cutting 150 of 320 jobs in the Netherlands and part of the production will be transferred to locations in Turkey and Hungary. A factory in Heerenveen is being closed, and other factories are being modernised, leading to the loss of the 150 jobs. This internal restructuring is a result of Accell’s profits being under heavy pressure and a large-scale recall of defective cargo bikes from subsidiary Babboe. Accell previously announced restructurings in Germany and England. The group has been owned by the American investment company KKR and the Dutch investor Teslin since 2022.
The trade unions FNV and CNV and the management of bicycle manufacturer Accell have reached an agreement in principle on a social plan. The social plan applies to Accell employees in the factories in Heerenveen, the cradle of the company.
