Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As part of a cost reduction plan, American health technology company, Merative, is to cut 100 jobs. The layoffs come as part of cost reduction plans across Ireland as the firm grows its operations in India, where the Irish jobs are to be moved to. The majority of impacted roles are within its technology organisation, affecting around 78 staff members, with the remaining cuts affecting areas including sales, design, products and communications.
The company currently employs 400 people in Ireland and between 2,000 and 3,000 people globally.
