Description

The German paper manufacturer Leipa from Schwedt (Uckermark) wants to cut around 100 jobs.

The reason for this is the closure of a production line for the manufacturing of graphic papers. Demand for such papers - such as advertising brochures - is declining and the production of these sheets at the site is not being fully utilised. Production is to be discontinued by the middle of 2024. LEIPA is working with the works council to find socially acceptable solutions.

The company states that the number of employees in the entire group is 1700. Schwedt is Leipa's largest European site for 100 percent recycled paper. The Leipa Group also has other sites in Romania, France and western Germany. The company has existed for more than 150 years and has been family-owned for six generations.
