Description

As announced on 1 March 2024, the German pharmaceutical and technology company Merck will be cutting 100 jobs at its headquarters in Darmstadt until the end of 2025 due to internal restructuring.

The reduction is part of a worldwide restructuring of the company’s electronics division affecting 230 employees. In November 2023, Merck announced that it intends to reduce costs in its electronics division by €90 million.

According to a company’s spokesperson, management and works’ council have now agreed to a social plan which intends to find socially acceptable solutions for affected employees as well as the possibility of an alternative internal placement.

In 2023, Merck already announced two saving packages including 200 job cuts in its pharmaceutical division as well as 550 cuts in IT, sales, human resources and its legal division (Merck 2023 - DE).
