Description
Aptive Services, a manufacturer of systems and parts for the automotive industry, has made 200-250 people redundant from its R&D department in Kraków. The company cited internal restructuring processes as the primary rational behind the restructuring, but did not provide any specific details. The redundancies were implemented with immediate effect on 19th February. The manner in which the redundancies were executed raised concerns regarding compliance with the Labour Code - the redundancies took place without prior notification to trade unions and employees, and were presented in a brief online meeting. The redundancy process drew attention from members of Lewica Razem MPs, who informed the media and reported the case to the Regional Labour Inspectorate in Kraków. As a result, the Labour Inspection will investigate whether the redundancies were carried out in accordance with the law. Aptiv, based in Dublin, is a global manufacturer of systems and parts for the automotive industry, employing more than 200,000 people in 50 countries. Aptiv's Technical Centre in Kraków has been in operation since 2000 and employs over 2,000 engineers and 1,000 corporate specialists.
