Description
State-owned transport company Irish Rail is to recruit 100 new train drivers over the next two years.
The recruitment drive comes on the back of government investment to increase Irish Rail’s number of trains and expand its network around the Republic, in order to boost public transport.
The new roles will be based in across the country, in Dublin, Athlone, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Waterford and Westport.
The company intends highlighting the advantage of the posts to women, who have been increasingly joining the company as train drivers in recent years.
Irish Rail has ordered 185 new carriages and plans to add 750 over the coming decade.
