Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
NEONET, a Polish retail chain selling electronic equipment and accessories, will make 100 people redundant. The redundancies are related to the company's internal restructuring, whose other activities include closing stationery shops - a process that has already begun. Head office and shop employees will be made redundant; all employees will be covered by a support programme including, among others, a severance pay guarantee and an outplacement programme, and a support package is being prepared in cooperation with the Local Labour Office. NEONET is a Wroclaw-based Polish retail chain offering computer equipment and consoles, TV and audio equipment, mobile phones, tablets, photographic equipment and accessories, mechanised household equipment and accompanying services. It has around 256 shops spread across Poland.
