European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The Swedish battery-manufacturer Nilar has declared bankruptcy last week, citing low liquidity and an inability to shore up finances. This bankruptcy will affect all the approximately 100 employees at their factory in Gävle. There are currently no plans for a takeover of operations from another company.
Local union representatives say the bankruptcy was unexpected: “They went out this week and said they needed capital, but it came as a surprise when they filed for bankruptcy instead.”
Nilar International is a designer, developer and manufacturer of batteries with its headquarters in Gävle, Sweden. This is also where all of its battery development and manufacturing takes place.
