Description

Fiorucci, the historic Italian sausage and salami company, started collective redundancy proceedings on 27 November for 216 employees: 200 in the Pomezia plant in Rome and 16 in the Parma plant in Emilia.

The decision followed the sale last August of the property to the Mexican multinational Sigma Alimentos and two funds (Navigator Group from Germany and White Park Capital from Ireland), which opted for a corporate restructuring, which envisages growth in the European market, aiming to increase turnover and profitability. In addition, there are plans to automate and modernise facilities, acquire distributors and retail chains, and invest in occupational health and safety.

The decision was communicated at short notice to the unions, who are very irritated. In fact, they started assemblies and pickets in the Pomezia plant. Furthermore, they demanded an urgent meeting with the owners to reach an agreement.
