Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Autoliv, the Swedish-American automotive supplier headquartered in Stockholm, has announced plans to cut around 8,000 positions worldwide (11% of its total workforce), mainly in Europe (320 employees will be affected in France and 500 in Germany). Moreover, the possible closure of a plant in UK has been announced. It is not clear which other locations will be affected. The restructuring is part of a strategic plan aims at reducing structural costs worldwide, as a result of the increasing challenges the company is facing due to the rise in inflation.
