Description

The Swedish kitchen and bathroom manufacturer Vedum has announced that it will have to lay off 100 employees. Of these 100 employees, 55 are blue-collar workers and 45 are administrative staff. The layoffs will primarily affect the factory in Vedum (Västra Götaland) but will also affect other showrooms across Sweden.

According to Vedum, the layoffs are because of rising inflation and rising mortgage rates, which in turn has reduced the demand for kitchen and bathroom renovations in the market. Cooperation negotiations concerning the layoffs will start in the middle of November.

Vedum currently employs 470 workers in their factory in Vedum as well as in showrooms across Sweden.
