Description
In September 2023, the German bakery chain Achimer Stadtbäckerei has announced that the company's production and administration site in Achim will be closed. As a result of the restructuring, around 100 employees will lose their jobs.
The company has entered insolvency proceedings for the fourth time within a decade. According to the insolvency administrator, an increase in energy and raw materials costs as well as significant expenses associated with remediation have contributed to the closure of the site.
The company has already faced financial distress in 2013, 2019, and 2020. In 2020, the company had a workforce of 420 employees and was operating in 38 branches in Germany.
