Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
ATB Tamel, a manufacturer of electric motors, will lay off 200 people (25% of the workforce) from its factory in Tarnow. The decision to make redundancies is due to the company's deteriorating financial situation; the redundancies are to be carried out until the end of the year; the reduction in employment will affect employees of the liquidated Cast Iron Foundry Department. The first to be made redundant will be employees who have acquired pension rights, those on fixed-term and civil law contracts, and prisoners; the last will be employees on permanent employment contracts. The ATB Tamel electric motor factory is part of the Chinese Wolong Holding Group. The Tarnów-based company was previously owned by ATB Austria Antriebstechnik.
