Description
Sonae MC is a Portuguese company that produces kitchen appliances. The company has decided to backshore the production of its thermomix (Yammi) from China to Portugal. The appliance competes in world markets with the most famous "Bimby" from Vorwerk. In order to accomplish the initiative, a new plant has been created, which cost 4 mln € and created 41 new jobs. Moreover, 44 national suppliers in outsourcing have been involved. The plant has been built in the course of one year with the aim to increase quality, design and innovation in order to gain leadership in the market. 14.000 units should be available to customers within 2016. Sonae expects that 65% of production should be sold in foreign markets. 50.000 units are expected to be produced in the next year. Sales should double from the current 10 mln€.
