Description

Benetton is an Italian fashion retailer with more than seven thousand employees. The company has launched a limited edition knitwear project called TV31100, in which it has invested EUR 2mn (USD 2.25mn). The project involves products to be manufactured exclusively in house in Treviso, where the brand was born, celebrating also its heritage. The new line pays tribute to Benetton seamless knitwear that was produced in the 1990s. It features basic jumpers in merino and cashmere wool with a seamless stitching and a reduced environmental impact. The collection is designed both for men and women, and should be available in six colours. The line will be on sale in the stores in Europe, India and Mexico from November 2016. Benetton is still evaluating whether to extend distribution to other countries. The project marks also a small reshoring of production to Italy for the company, with the purchase of 36 Shima Seiki weaving machines that guarantee a daily production of 700 pieces currently.
