Description

Lucibel is a French innovative company that designs and produces lighting products and solutions based on LED technology and it was founded in 2008. In 2014, this company refocused on its professional lighting business after producing LED lights and light bulbs for the general public in China for some time. Therefore, Lucibel started to relocate its production activities from China back to France from 2014. According to Yves-Heny Brepson , the deputy CEO of the company, the motives of relocation are closeness to its customers, transport flexibility and lower inventories. Now, the company produces LED lights for shops, hotels, warehouses and factories. The cost is up to EUR 2,000 (USD 2,236.12) per room and the volumes ranging from 1,000 to 6,000 pieces. Lucibel has an R&D team and a 4,000 m2 assembly workshop. Activities such as metalworking, painting and prototyping activities are carried out by a museum lighting company called Procédés Hallier which has been acquired by Lucibel in January, 2014. Since the products are assembled manually with a wide variety, in order to improve efficiency, Lucibel has used a process to standardize components, took advantage of the past experiences, selected the right suppliers and optimized the tasks of the operators. In order to save time and keep the logistics chain as short as possible, Lucibel has to find local or European suppliers.
