Description
Automotive supplier Fehrer has announced the elimination of 270 jobs at its Großlangheim and Wiesentheid sites.
The job cuts are due to the closure of the production sites in Großlangheim with 140 jobs and the site in Wiesentheid with 130 jobs. The company said that production at the German sites in Großlangheim and Wiesentheid will be phased out by the end of 2024 at the latest and relocated to other sites. The reason given is the increase in domestic costs and the migration of the automotive supply industry abroad. In recent years, the “corona pandemic, supply chain problems, raw material shortages, the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis and unexpectedly high collective bargaining agreements in Germany” have exacerbated a worsening costs situation, according to the company.
Fehrer specialises in the development and production of components for vehicle interiors and employs over 5,000 people worldwide.
