Description

The automotive supplier Marelli Automotiv Lighting has announced that it will cut around 800 to 900 jobs at its Brotterode plant.

The job cuts are due to the closure of the Brotterode plant by the end of March 2024. The company argues that the site is no longer competitive. The company manufactures headlights for the automotive industry.

The IG Metall trade union was able to negotiate a social contract that provides for severance pay and a transfer company.

The Marelli Group employs around 50,000 workers in 170 facilities and R&D centres worldwide.
