Description
The Paris Commercial Court has ordered the compulsory liquidation of Getir, owned by the Turkish group Getir, resulting in the redundancy of 841 employees. The French subsidiary of the Turkish group Getir had been in receivership since March.
The liquidation of Getir and Gorillas (FR-Gorillas-2023) is due to a change in regulations in France. In March 2023, the government changed the definition of premises where products are stored for delivery as warehouses, and not any longer as shops. This reclassification has enabled mayors to regulate this activity and, to close certain premises.
Getir, with 70 shops and 2 warehouses, employs 841 people, who will lose their jobs with the liquidation.
Previous job cuts were recorded in the ERM Database, with 250 job cuts in 2022 (FR-Getir-2022) when Getir announced a 14% reduction in its workforce worldwide.
