Description
The Dijon Commercial Court has ordered the liquidation of CEAT, a company specialised in the repair of electronic products (smartphones, connected objects and reverse logistics urban mobility), resulting in 230 redundancies. When it was placed in receivership at the beginning of the year, the company still had 250 employees.
The company had been in financial difficulty since 2019, with turnover falling from €81.5 million in 2018 to €28.3 million in 2020. In January 2023, the Korean group Samsung announced its intention to terminate the partnership with CEAT to repair damaged phones.
According to the employees' lawyer, Samsung changed its mind several times about whether or not to support CEAT's business before finally giving up, leading to the company's liquidation. The employees decided to occupy the site.
