Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Swedish glass and door manufacturer Elitfönster gives notice of termination of employment to 165 workers at three locations: Vetlanda, Lenhovda and Växjö. Among the 165 redundancies, 40 are administrative office workers. The reasons for this reduction is due to several factors; the high inflation, increasing interest rates, and insecure geopolitical conditions have slowed down growth in the construction and real estate sectors, which the window and door manufacturer is directly depending on. Due to these factors, Elitfönster saw a reduction of orders in 2023.
Negotiations with union parties will begin as soon as possible.
Elitfönster has 950 employees in Vetlanda, Lenhovda and Växjö in Småland.
