Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Swedish manufacturer Volvo has announced an investment in Kraków, Poland, and a recruitment campaign for 120 positions. As part of Volvo's most recent objectives, prioritising innovation in software, it will open a large technology centre in Kraków, one of four in the world. The Volvo Cars Tech Hub will be launched by the end of 2023 and will be responsible for safety technologies, driver support algorithms and autonomous driving software. Employment in the centre is ultimately expected to rise to around 600 people by 2025.
The Volvo Car Corporation has so far operated three Tech Hub research and development centres: two in Sweden and one in India. The company also has large engineering centres in China and Sweden. Volvo aims to be an exclusively electric car manufacturer by the year 2030.
