Description
Convenience retailer Centra is to create 468 new jobs in Ireland in 2023. The new jobs are part of a €23 million investment which includes the opening of 18 new stores and the refurbishment of 35 existing stores. The company said the investment and expansion was due to an increase in demand from customers as employees returned to the office following the pandemic, with sales of on-the-go breakfast and lunch options rose 13% year-on-year. In addition, with more people choosing to dine in due to the cost of living increases, Centra saw sales of its own-brand ranges increase 10.3% and its Centra Freshly Prepared Range grow 10% year-on-year.
Centra currently employs approximately 11,500 people in Ireland the new jobs will bring the total employment figure at Centra to more than 12,000. Centra is owned by the Irish food wholesale and retailer, Musgraves.
