Description

Eiffel Optic, the largest Czech chain of dioptric glasses and contact lenses went bankrupt. The company has 26 stores and employs around 150 people in the Czech Republic. It has admitted in its insolvency petition that it no longer has money to pay wages for January 2023.The beginning of the company’s downfall was thought to be the shutdown during the coronavirus pandemic. The final aspect was the decline in retail sales in 2022, caused by the decline in the market power of customers on the one hand and the steep increase in operating costs, in particular the price of energy, rent, and wages on the other hand.Eiffel Optic was founded in 1991.
