Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Austrian company PicoPack Group, a producer and distributor of industrial packaging, in partnership with the Croatian company Velebit ambalaža, has announced they will recruit 300 new employees for their renovated production plant in the city of Knin. The Plant is planned to begin production of industrial packaging by the end of January 2023.
The interest of the local population for employment in the factory is very high due to to high unemployment rates in the City and an attractive average net salary of EUR 1000. As an additional incentive, the company will distribute 20 percent of the profit to the workers every six months. Respective trade unions see this as a positive development for the local population and regional economic prosperity.
The companies are specialised in the development and production of industrial packaging solutions of any kind of bulk materials in the food (human food, animal feed, seeds) and non-food sector (chemical, pharmaceutical, mining, cement), as well as for dangerous goods packaging and for transport solutions of bagged cargo.
