Description

The Finnish manufacturer of paper and wood products UPM is recruiting over 100 people under apprenticeship programmes in 11 different factories in Finland, in the municipalities of Jämsänkoski, Rauma, Valkeakoski, Lappeenranta, Kouvola, Pietarsaari, Juupajoki, Joensuu and Tampere. The application process for programmes will start on 1 September 2022 and the apprentice programme will start at the beginning of December 2022.

According to UPM, the aim is to offer permanent positions in factories at the end of the apprenticeship programmes. The students receive a professional qualification consisting of practical training and short theoretical studies in the field of production, automation, mechanical maintenance and power plants.

UPM has undergone multiple restructuring events recently. In 2020, UPM aimed to increase profitability by closing their production sites in Jämsä, cutting 450 jobs (UPM-2020a-FI), and Jyväskylä, cutting 147 jobs (UPM-2020b-FI).

UPM is a Finnish forest industry company with operations in 12 countries. At the end of 2021, the company employed 17,512 people in Finland.
