Hungarian wellness equipment manufacturer Wellis will decrease its personnel from 950 to 650 at its principal production site in Dabas by laying off 300 blue-collar workers. The workers affected by the layoff will be notified in August and the layoff will be completed by the end of September, according to the plan.

The layoff is related to the decision to downsize tub production, a response to the drastic decrease in demand for its products due to the war in Ukraine, the energy crisis and the global worsening of economic conditions. Simultaneously with the production downsizing, the firm will create a new development and service centre in Dabas. The swim spa product line, also placed at the Dabas site, will be unaffected and no changes are envisaged at the firm's Ózd plant.

The management says it will help the laid-off workers to find employment by assisting them with the writing of CV-s, finding job ads and sending job applications.
