Description

Fraport, the operator of Frankfurt Airport, has announced the creation of 1,000 new jobs at Frankfurt Airport by the end of 2022.

Fraport announced that 870 people have already been hired this year. A lack of staff, for example in baggage handling or at security checks, has led to chaotic conditions at German airports at the start of the peak travel season. Fraport has drasticallyreduced its staff by around 4000 jobs by 2021 ( Fraport 2021 -DE). According to Fraport, the 1000 new jobs in baggage handling or security checks are to be created by the end of 2022.

The unions accuse the airline industry of excessive austerity. They say the trend towards outsourcing has contributed to the current summer chaos.

Fraport employs 22,707 people at its Frankfurt site.
