European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Automotive supplier Sielest Faurecia, which is specialised in the manufacture of car seats, has announced the closure of its site in Pulversheim, which employs 172 people including 35 temporary workers. The closure is part of a restructuring project by Faurecia, which wishes to relocate all its activities to the Étupes site near Montbéliard (Doubs). This involves the merger of Faurecia Sielest into the subsidiary Siedoubs.
The factory will close in November 2022. The employees had been expecting this news for a long time, but they had understood that the closure would take place in 2028. So the announcement came as a shock. For the CFDT, the announcement is not a surprise and the priority is 'to negotiate dignified accompanying measures'. The trade unionists want employees who wish to do so to be able to work in the Stellantis (ex-Peugeot) factory in Mulhouse and the management to take measures for the seniors who are close to retirement.
